If you've been following vegan online personalities for a while, you may be aware of the Anna Scanlon vs Charles Marlowe feud that's been going on for a number of years now. The feud has now developed into Scanlon suing Marlowe in a costly lawsuit for defamation and slander.
The drama started several years ago in 2016 when Scanlon began privately criticizing Marlowe's content on his Youtube channel. In a small Facebook group, she expressed her disgust at his personal attacks on other vegan personalities in the community. Word of this got to Marlowe who responded with a livestream video, where he claimed that Scanlon had made sexual advances on him online so that she could ultimately blackmail him.
After much alleged online harassment from Marlowe and his legion of online fans, Scanlon reached the tipping point when she googled her name and discovered that the second result was "Anna Scanlon Accused of Offering Sex". As she realised that this was potentially damaging to her future career and social status, she decided to file a lawsuit for defamation and slander.
Scanlon attests that Youtube and YouNow are not taking action against Marlowe for monetary reasons. She believes that it's unethical for Youtube to allow him to make a living from professionally harassing others online.
